Stretch Marks

Also known as “striae” by your dermatologist. This condition is caused by an rapid change in skin, whether it stretches or shrinks quickly. This change causes a rupture in the collagen and elastin, which serves to support our skin’s structure. The result is the appearance of stretch marks.

Scenarios:

  • Athletes and weight training- where rapid muscle growth is observed
  • Rapid weight gain or rapid weigh loss
  • Growth spurts

  • The earlier you try RESTORE the better. In general, waiting for stretch marks to mature makes it less likely to respond to any cream.
  • Massage RESTORE directly into your stretch marks.
  • Be patient, if this works , it will take 3 months to see a change.

Why RESTORE

RESTORE contains hydrolyzed collagen and hydrolyzed elastin.

The second layer of the skin is called the dermis and consists of two fibers: collagen, which gives the skin its strength, and elastin, which provides skin with its elasticity. The elastic fiber network gets stretched as a consequence of underlying tissue expansion , such as muscle building, weight lifting, exercising or weight gain. Elastic fibers give skin its elasticity, or the ability to “snap back,” after stretching. The skin tries to repair the tired elastic network but it does not appear to be effective, which in turn promotes the lax, loose skin seen in stretch marks. A stretch mark is formed.

Chafing

During physical activity, such as running, working out, dancing, chafing can occur anywhere on the skin. Common areas for chafing includes the groin, inner thigh, under the arms, under the breasts, and chafing can lead to skin breakdown, painful sores, redness and also blisters. Blisters seen as a result of chafing often occurs on the feet during running, or hands during weight lifting.

Scenarios:

  • Working out in gym with weights- chafing can lead to blisters on hands
  • Painful skin irritations and chafing groin, inner thighs, under arms.
  • Running, dancing, interval training chafing can lead to blisters on feet.

  • Before working out try applying COOL DOWN to those areas where you know the skin rubs together.
  • Massage COOL DOWN into any area where painful irritations, rashes, blisters occur before starting your activity
  • For severe cases, can apply petroleum jelly after COOL DOWN.
  • Wear moisture wicking loose fitting clothes and socks (2 pair if necessary). Avoid cotton clothes as it holds the sweat and can lead to friction. Use padding in certain areas.

Acne

Folliculitis

Folliculitis, and includes Razor Burn, and Shaving rashes

Folliculitis looks like Acne but usually the pimple like lesion is centered over a hair follicle. Sometimes its itchy and sometime its painful. Can be caused by infection such as Staph aureus bacteria, but other causes can be seen during shaving, skin rubbing together, or damage to hair follicle.
